Privacy Policy
How your details are used when you contact Richard through this website.
Who we are
This website is run by Richard Slaiter, author of Something Else. Richard is the controller of the personal details you send through it. You can contact us at admin@richardslaiter.digital.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us through the contact form or by email:
- your name and email address
- your phone number, if you give it
- details of your enquiry, such as an event date, a venue, or a name for a signed dedication
- a postal address, if you order a signed copy
We do not ask for, and you should not send, card or bank details through the form.
How we use it
We use your details to reply to you, to arrange signed copies, talks or interviews, and to keep a record of what was agreed. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give when you tick the box on the form, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about the book. Where you order a signed copy, we also use your details to complete that order.
We will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to, and we will never sell your details.
Who else sees it
Messages from the contact form are delivered by a form service (Formspree), which handles them on our behalf and stores them securely. Our website host keeps standard server logs for security. If we post a signed copy, we give your address to Royal Mail or another courier. We share nothing else with anyone unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for up to two years, then delete them. Records of orders are kept for six years, as tax rules require.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete them, or withdraw your consent at any time. Email admin@richardslaiter.digital and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
